| GMC Jammu fails to transfer electrician for 20 yrs | | | Jammu, July 17: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&) Jammu administration has failed to transfer an influential electrician, stationed at one place for the last fifteen years.
"Scores of electricians of GMC&H Jammu have not been transferred for years, though these employees completed decades at one place. The successive state governments talks about bringing transparency and accountability in government departments, but the ground reality is that no one actually cares," sources told Early Times, adding that most of these overstaying employees have close proximity either with higher ups or enjoying political patronage.
Sources further said that one electrician working in GMC was appointed as Nursing Orderly (NO) and later as an electrician in 1994 and the administration deployed him to GMC auditorium.
In spite of lapse 20 years, GMC administration has failed to transfer the electrician. However, dozens of employees doing job in same department and on same post werr transferred from time to time within associated hospital.
"The other employees of the department doing their duty in three shifts were also transferred time and again but the blue eyed was never touched", sources alleged.
As per government's official transfer policy of 2010 all the employees having more than two years of stay at a particular place shall be transferred. However, departments in Medical College Jammu have not been following the transfer policy either by premature transfer of officials or retaining employees for years at a specific post. Principal GMC&H Jammu was not available for comments. |
