Mehbooba caught on wrong foot for 'preaching sedition'
7/17/2018 11:29:05 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, July 17: Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has been caught on "wrong foot" by stating that more Salaudhins and Yasin Maliks would be born if New Delhi tries to break her party.
Viresh Shandilya, spokesman Shree Hindu Takht and President Anti-Terrorist Front India has filed a sedition case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ambala under sections 121, 124 A and 153 of Indian Penal Code against the PDP chief. The complainant has pleaded that if Mehbooba was not tried under these sections, then "a day is not far when the country that is India would be deprived of J&K and the entire nation will be jeopardised when the terrorist activities increase."
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that PDP losing power has infuriated the former Chief Minister. "She had not expected that BJP would pull the plug so suddenly. Even when she was ruling the state she left no stone unturned to appease the separatists and their bosses sitting in Pakistan," he said, adding, "Kashmir based politicians have developed a habit of preaching secessionism when they are out of power."
He said that Mehbooba Mufti seems to have forgotten that she held the all important office of Chief Minister for more than two years. "By threatening the country she has crossed the line," the analyst added.
"Mainstream politicians, including the PDP President, need to act in a matured way. They can't sail in tow boats. They have to choose between separatism and mainstream politics. On many occasions all the Indian leaders have made it clear that Kashmir is no issue and J&K is an integral part of India. Despite Centre's position being clear PDP leaders keep on harping about Kashmir and role of the separatists. They need to mend their ways and fall in line. If they don't do it then they should get ready to face the sedition cases. Shandliya has made a beginning others too can follow the suit," said a Kashmir watcher.
Shnadliya has pleaded that Mehbooba has given a call to militants to take the Kashmir in their own hands. "The accused may be summoned, tried and punished under the aforesaid sections so that the country may not suffer," the complaint reads.
A politician said that BJP made a big mistake by entering into an alliance with the PDP. "Despite remaining in power for more than three years BJP leaders from J&K did not make an attempt to make Mehbooba Mufti understand that she cannot be soft towards separatists and terrorists. They just kept dancing to the tunes of PDP," he added.
