| DC initiates probe, DFO appointed enquiry officer | | Bunglings in auctions by MC Doda | | Early Times Report
Doda, July 19: Taking cognizance of the ET report that highlighted scam worth over Rs. 75 lakhs by Municipal Committee Doda in the auction of various properties, the newly posted Deputy Commissioner Doda has ordered an enquiry and appointed Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Doda as enquiry officer. The officer has been directed to submit the report before August 10. Meanwhile locals have hailed Deputy Commissioner for acting against the corrupt officials.
Details available with Early Times reveal that newly posted Deputy Commissioner Doda Simrandeep Singh appointed DFO Doda Alok Kumar Maurya IFS as enquiry officer to probe into the alleged bunglings, misappropriation and loot of public money and report before August 10.
As reported already Municipal Committee Doda had been exposed through an RTI reply which reveals that only 50 % of the auction money has been recovered from several bidders from last few years while they were allotted shops by the MC Committee. A loss of more than Rs 75 lakhs has been estimated through this unholy practice during last 5 years.
The aggrieved persons had appealed State Vigilance Organsiation (SVO) to file a formal FIR and arrest the involved officers especially the incumbent Executive Officer and some of his predecessors along with other officials of the municipal committee. The matter was also brought into the notice of DC Doda Simrandeep Singh few days back who formally issued an order of probe.
While auctioning various business units / shops in Doda town , Municipal Committee Doda has not recovered 40 to 50 % of the bid money. In many cases even less than 30 % of the bid amount has been realized from the so called bidders. In addition to it many blue eyed people who were allotted the shops through so called bidding have sublet their shops to some other persons which is also a big scam. Documents available with Early Times reveal that MC Doda is auctioning its properties like shops from the last so many years through bidding system. The bidding amount starts from lakhs and the bidders deposit only 40% or 50% of the bid amount and the rest of money is never deposited by most of the bidders. The reason is most of the bidders have political backing and they bribe the Municipal Committee officers . Sources say that Executive Officer Municipal Committee Doda takes huge cuts from the bidders and never approaches them to collect the rest of bid money, thus causing huge loss to state exchequer. |
