Inspector takes charge as SHO in ex-minister's native district | Out of power but still calling shots | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 19: Even though the BJP is out of power in the state, many former ministers are still calling the shots in the administration. For instance, a former BJP minister was able to get an Inspector adjusted as a Station House Officer (SHO) of a key police station in his area as soon as the latter was transferred to the home district of the minister. Sources informed Early Times that gossips were already going on in the police department about the said Inspector's adjustment as SHO of the police station in former minister's area. "First the Inspector was posted in Jammu region; then he was sent to the home district of the former minister, and now he has been assigned the charge of the police station though four Inspectors were sitting idle in the District Police Lines (DPL). The BJP leader's will prevailed and his preference was finally adjusted," said sources. They said that the SHO, who was holding the charge of the said police station, got transferred three months ago but he had not been relieved. But now in order to get his favourite Inspector adjusted in his area, the former minister exerted pressure on the higher ups in the police department and managed to get the relieving orders issued for the then incumbent. "The former minister planned meticulously to accomplish his goal of adjusting his 'blue eyed' in the concerned police station. For the purpose, he ensured that the four Inspectors deputed in the DPL do not get the coveted post and at the same time he was able to get the police station running without SHO for several days with the help of senior police officers," said sources. "The Inspector, who joined as SHO, was handed over the order of getting posted in the district two days back. Consequently the Inspector reported for duty in the district in the afternoon and the same day he was assigned the charge of the police station," added sources. Sources further said that the former minister's relations with the district police chief are also very cordial. The district head of the police department never fails to oblige the politician as it was with his 'blessings' that he got the chance to serve as district police chief. |
