Kashmiri migrants present slew of demands before B B Vyas

SRINAGAR, July 31: A deputation of Kashmiri Migrants led by its Chairman/President Engineer Ramesh Chander Mahajan called on B B Vyas Advisor to Governor J&K State. The delegation apprised Vyas of the problems being faced by migrant communities and the Advisor gave a patient hearing and assured immediate redressal of grievances.
The deputation submitted a memorandum of demands to the Advisor. These include abolition of M-Form, in the voters list of Kashmiri migrant families wherein name of some members are missing. It was demanded that Kashmiri migrants be declared as internally displaced people and reservation on four seats for the Kashmir Migrants community be reserved in state Legislative assembly, three in legislative council and one each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and one in upper and lower house of parliament.
It was demanded that migrants in all Jammu camps should be declare as under category of Panchayat/ Rural/Urban Block/local block area to elect the representative for migrants from various camps and non camps. They said that J&K migrants Immovable Property (Preservation, protection and restrain of Distress sale Act) 1997 should be implemented. Demand for restoration of Kashmiri migrants agriculture lands, houses, orchards, shops, SSI units, cowshed, kothar, other sheds, kitchen garden and other properties by illegal encroachment in valley. It was demanded that minority status is extended to Kashmiri Hindu migrants and Prime Minister's New 15 Points programme of minorities status is implemented. Demand was also made for passing of Protection of Temple and Shrines Bill. They said that police authorities should conduct regular on spot recruitment drive in the TRTs camps and non camps for adjustment of educated youth in the police department and other central departments.
The deputation included Sanjay Kholi, Susheel. Chopra, R.K. Chopra, Raj K. Koul, DalipPandita, S. Sunny Singh, J.S bamiyal, Sunil Khatri, R.K Kapoor, S. Jagmeet Singh, Upinder ji, R.K.Suri, S. Charan Singh, Satish ji others.
