Action against Doctor, Nurse for alleged negligence | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Oct 1: A doctor has been relieved and junior staff nurse suspended and both were attached with the office of CMO at Rajouri for further action for showing lackadaisical behavior in providing urgent medical help to a pregnant woman at a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kotranaka in Rajouri district. Dr Iqbal Malik, BMO has also constituted a three member team of the health officials to inquire the incident and to submit report within 7 days. Mohd Rafiq of Kewal village approached Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO with a complaint that on September 29 she brought her pregnant wife with severe labour pains to CHC at Kotranka. "Instead providing necessary treatment, the doctor after casual checking referred the patient to district hospital. As no ambulance was available, we hired a private vehicle and before we could put her inside the vehicle, she gave birth to a dead baby in front of the hospital ward" said Rafiq. Reliable sources said that it was a case of Intrauterine fatal (IUF) death and doctor referred the patient to district hospital. On the complaint of Mohd Rafiq , Dr Iqbal Malik, BMO, Kandi relieved the doctor and suspended the JSN and attached them with the CMO office pending inquiry. Doctor and JSN have been identified as Dr Farooq Mir, Medical Officer (MO) and Shahnaz Akhter , JSN, both on night duty on September 29 and both appointed under NHM. The inquiry team included Dr. Mohd Imran Malik, dental surgeon, Dr. Deepka Vaid, MO and Abdul Latief, Community health officer (CHO). |
