Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Oct 1: The hardliner Muslim organisation Jamat e Islami has reportedly removed one of its top functionaries in Kishtwar District after he made a vote appeal to the people during a Friday sermon and asked the people to vote judiciously while electing the candidates during upcoming Urban Local Body elections.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader without naming BJP was hitting at the party for their anti Muslim policies and made direct appeal to the people to keep the RSS backed candidates at bay.
The appeal to vote amid prevailing circumstances did not go well with the senior functionaries of the Jamaat who removed him Friday evening itself , but it became official on Monday after some youth took to Facebook to hit out at state body of Jamat e Islami for unceremonious removal of the Jamat functionary in Kishtwar District.
Though some people associated with the Jamat e Islami tried to downplayed the incident of removal of the top District functionary, but the angry asked the Jamat e Islami leadership to withdraw its decision without any further delay.
Speaking to Early Times, the said Jamat functionary denied that he was removed for making any vote appeal. He said that the stand of Jamat e Islami is clear over the issue and added that he had never told the people to vote for any particular party.
It is pertinent to mention that 56 candidates including 16 females has filled nomination papers for 13 Wards of Kishtwar Municipality with over 3 dozen Independent Candidates.
But many candidates beside Congress party leadership are questioning the role of District Administration since many officials associated with poll process have been appointed at behest of ruling BJP and thus doubting the credibility of holding of free and fear elections in the District under present official setup in Kishtwar District which is highly tilted towards the BJP which is also said to be the main reason behind vote appeal from the Jamat e Islami functionary despite the fact that it has always advocated poll boycott in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
