Symposium on "Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy-Seven Social Sins in Modern Era" Organised

Kathua, Oct 1: An Intercollegiate Symposium on "Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy-Seven Social Sins in Modern Era" was organized by Govt. Degree College Kathua to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Principal of the college Prof K.C. Badgal who was Chief Guest on the occasion inaugurated the intercollegiate symposium. In his inaugural address, Prof Badgal laid emphasis on avoiding Seven Social Sins by all the students, teachers and citizens. He said that the students must inculcate the Gandhian Philosophy for becoming better human beings. Dr. Netar Singh Coordinator Gandhi Global Family Kathua spoke on Truth and Non Violence.
Students from GDC Bani, GDC Hiranagar, GDC for Women Kathua, GDC Mahanpur and GDC Kathua participated in the symposium. Skilva Mahotra from GCW Kathua, Himanshika Sharma from GDC Hiranagar, and Shabnam Malik from GDC Bani were adjudged 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively. Jeevan Jyoti of GDC Kathua and Ms. Ruchika Verma of GDC Hiranagar got Certificate of Merit.
Dr. Manohar Lal, Prof Shuv Kumar and Prof Raj Kiran were Jury Members. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia and Prof Shikha. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof Rakesh Singh.
On this occasion Prizes were also given to Mohit Choudhary, Manvi and Shivani of RED Ribbon Club who stood 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively in Poster Making Competition on Drug Abuse held by Red Ribbon Club on 26th of September 2018. Prizes were also given to NSS Volunteers Tania, Priyanka, Pooja Sarmal, Parvaz Akhtar who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Slogan Writing Competition on Gandhian thoughts. Aditi Tickoo who got prize for best Essay Writing Competition was also felicitated on the occasion.

Rao, Prof. Anirudh Sharma, Prof Madhvi Parasher, Dr. Rachna, Dr. Deepshikha, Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Dr, Anupma Arora, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Ambica, Prof Ritu Bhagat, Prof Shuv Kumarand Prof Shikha.
