Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 3: The founder members of Jammu Athlete Club (JAC), Gaurav Gupta also known as the marathon man of Jammu and Vikram Gupta, leading business man of the state met The Athletic God, Padma Shri awardee Milkha Singh to discuss their upcoming half marathon event to be held on 11th November this year. Milkha Singh has always succeeded in holding the highest regard and honours for his matchless and beyond compare achievements in athletics at the global level and he never misses out on any opportunity in sports elevation and encouragement. He was delighted to know the vision of the club and wished Gaurav and Vikram all the best in tapping the youth's talent while empowering sports in the state. "I am very happy to hear the purpose of the event. Such well thought events that focus on the growth of the athletes and accentuate on recognising the local talent and building champions who are capable to perform at advanced levels always empower sports and aid the youth of the country for a positive mind-set. I wish the boys, all the best in their ventures. God Bless!" he said. The mentioned marathon would be an annual marathon affair that would not only raise the bar of Marathon and other Athletic Events but will also bring J&K at par with global sports events giving an opportunity for the locals to experience global par excellence sports events and inviting non-locals to come and witness the sports euphoria in Jammu. JAC was conceptualised as the founders saw and witnessed dearth of opportunities for a common man in the state in the athletic field and wanted to work for the cause rectifying the same and use sports that could bent the mind-set of the youth to constructive and confident state. The club is dedicated to provide opportunities to the youth of the state by recognising and promoting sports through athletic and other events and assimilate social causes through sports empowerment in the state.
