NC, PDP, Pak stooges sail in same boat

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 3: As the stage is set for the first phase of the municipal polls in Kashmir, the so-called Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have called for a shutdown on October 8 to disrupt the polling during the first phase.
It's not for the first time that separatists have called for a shutdown on the polling day. They have been doing it for the past three decades.
"These Pak stooges want people to stay away from all those exercises which are aimed at empowering the people and to help them out to stand on their own feet," said an analyst.
He said that history stands testimony to the fact that Pakistan stooges during all these years have just preached violence and have opposed the moves which could have helped Kashmir prosper. "A few people with vested interests have been busy in keeping the pot boiling. This time around the mainstream parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have toed the line of the separatists and have stayed away from the poll process," the analyst added.
A Kashmir watcher said that one can understand that Pakistan stooges are appeasing their bosses by disrupting the polls process but whom NC and PDP trying to appease?
He said, "NC and PDP had thought that if they boycott the panchayat and local bodies polls they would derive political mileage out of it but their move has backfired as their leaders have rebelled against them and are contesting these polls as independents."
Coming days are going to be tough for the security agencies as there are many elements, who are making desperate attempts to sabotage the entire process. "There are reports that separatists have already activated their henchmen to terrify people. Even the militants have threatened the people of dire consequences if they come out to vote. All the attempts are being made to tell the world that no one is interested in elections. But the fact is that people are being threatened and warned by the gun totting militants and their supporters," the analyst added.
He said that mainstream politicians who for the past 70-years have enjoyed all the privileges and have thrived on the facilities provided by New Delhi too are echoing the voices of the Pak stooges. "This should serve as an eye opener for the people sitting in Delhi who during all these years have pampered the Kashmir centric politicians," the analyst said.
