Youth Hostels Association welcomes Maheshwar

Jammu, Oct 3: Youth Hostels Association of India Srinagar Unit -1 at Jammu welcomed Maheshwar Vishwakarma who returned after attending Asia Pacific Program on Hostelling for Peace and International Understanding 2018 in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) as sole delegate from Jammu & Kashmir and North India representing the country with a total of only 11 delegates from India. There were more than 40 delegates from all around Asia (Lebanon, Taiwan, India, Malaysia).
The main focus of the conference was on to how tourism can be used as a tool to promote universal peace and brotherhood among all human beings. It was a great learning experience for me and an opportunity to project our nation's unique ability to sustain peace and harmony regardless of caste, colour, religion and creed.
It is worthwhile to mention that this program on Peace and International Understanding was based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the International Youth Hostel Federation and UNESCO in 2003 to promote world peace and goodwill among people all over the world.
The objectives of this program were as followsa program for HI-Malaysia and to promote Malaysia as a tourist destination, to promote peace and international understanding amongst Asia Pacific countries and enhancing the goodwill and friendship among the young people in the Asia Pacific region, proactive program for youth leaders and volunteers from the private and public universities and others.
He was presented memento honoured by the president of Hostelling International Malaysia. He participated in various activities like ice breaking session, management games, sleep for peace, visit to Royal Selangor Pewter Factory, Cultural presentation , Orang Asli Village at Gombak, Putrajaya, were great learning tools. Vishwakarma extends sincere thanks to Youth Hostels Association of India for bestowing this opportunity.
