Punjab based drug peddler held with 15 gram heroin, Rs 50,000 cash

Jammu, Oct 3: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', launched by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Vivek Gupta, Gandhi Nagar police claimed to have arrested a Punjab based drug peddler and recovered 15 grams heroin along with Rs 50,000 as cash from his possession.
Police spokesman said that today police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established a naka near Shamshan Ghat Chowk Shastri Nagar for checking/frisking of vehicles.
"When the police party was checking/frisking the vehicles one Scooty bearing Registration number JKO2BT-8415 coming from NHW Satwari towards naka was also stopped for checking.
"On questioning the driver of the Scooty disclosed his name as Vijay Kumar of Majeetha Amritsar Punjab and on his personnel search 15 Grams of Heroin along with cash Rs 50,000 was recovered from his possession", said spokesman adding that accordingly a case under FIR No. 219/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started. The consignment of narcotics along with cash Rs 50,000 and vehicle used in the commission of crime was seized accordingly.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia-SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South Dr. Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP City South Vinay Kumar, and 55P Jammu Shri Vivek Gupta-IPS.
