SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh today visited Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban where he held review meetings to take stock of the preparedness for the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat Elections with officers and addressed Police Darbars.
Singh impressed upon the officers to dispose of cases on fast track basis and keep crime index check and also enhance public relations. Going down the memory lane the DGP referred to his tenure as SSP Doda and said that the region is linguistically and culturally diverse and the officers should take extra care as the towns are sensitive.
The DGP said that the range has been militancy infested but because of sacrifices of police and other security forces and the people it has attained peace. "It is a pleasure for me of visiting this region as I have worked here as a young officer and I have seen how much difficulties this region has faced", the DGP said.
Singh said that because of the safe and secure environment of region, projects are being executed and development is taking place in the region for which credit goes to Police, Army, BSF and CRPF who have worked as a team and accomplished the mission of establishing the peace.
The DGP said that PHQ is looking into various demands and more announcements are expected from state government for the benefit of police personnel. He said that all subordinate officers have been directed to complete the formalities for promotions in shortest possible time. He advised the police personnel to take care of health, hygiene and their families.
Singh said that ex-gratia relief to NOKs of martyrs has been increased so that due care is taken of them. He reiterated that SPOs of these districts have given a lot of sacrifices. Keeping the work of SPOs in view central government has increased their remuneration. He assured that the other demands of welfare of personnel will be looked into, sympathetically.
The DGP paid his salute to the martyrs and their families and he feels proud of them including VDCs. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has earned a good name at national level due to their sacrifices for the nation. He directed the officers to act tough against white collar criminals by identifying and booking them under relevant laws.
He said that over the years the number of personnel has increased and security grid has been strengthened and we have succeeded in our mission of eradication of militancy from the range. The DGP said that Ramban has a central role whether it is Amarnath Yatra or it is management of traffic during the winters or during weather vagaries. He directed the officers that technology be put to use for better traffic management in the districts and National Highway.
The DGP directed the officers to be fully prepared for the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections. He said that action should be taken against the trouble mongers after identifying them. He further said noose must be tightened against the militants and their over ground workers. Earlier, the SSsP of the concerned districts gave resume of the functioning of their respective districts in these darbars.
