Tight security in Kishtwar ahead of today's polls

KISHTWAR, Oct 9: Responding to reports of sneaking in of militants into Kishtwar, the authorities tightened security across the district ahead of Wednesday's polls.
As per the details available with "Early Times" all the entry and exit points leading to Kishtwar town where all the 13 polling stations for polling have been established, were sealed by erecting barricades by police, army and CRPF on various link roads entering the town and vehicles are being allowed on after proper frisking.
The polling booths were secured by the Police personals from Armed, JKP and CRPF while overall security is being looked and take care by the civil police.
The adjoining hilly and vulnerable areas of Kishtwar town are being dominated by the army presence.
SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Gupta along with Additional SP also takes whirlwind tour of all the 13 polling stations to ensure safety and security of the polling stations as well as the voters who will reach for the voting purpose.
There are 53 candidates in fray and among them18 candidates belong to national parties, one from state and maximum 34 candidates as Independent.
Ward No. 10 of Kishtwar Municipality has received only two nominations while Ward No. 2 & 13 got 6 nomination papers.
Among the 53 candidates, Former ADDC Kishtwar Raiz Ahmed Zarger is a renowned face while majority of the candidates are the youths.
Meanwhile some candidates accuses biased attitude of the election authorities towards them and alleges that administration is tilted towards the BJP added that even some candidates are openly violating the model code of conduct beside are distributing money to the voters to lure them while at the same time election monitoring authorities are watching as mute spectator.
The polling is schedule to being at 6 AM and will conclude at 4 PM. Around 76-80% voting is expected in Kishtwar Municipality with around 8300 voters.
Similar Security arrangements were made at Doda, Thatri and Bhaderwah for tomorrow's election.
