Four Hizb-ul-Mujahideen OGWs arrested: Police

Srinagar, Oct 9: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested over ground workers (OGW) of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit from Langate area of Kupwara district. A police spokesperson in a statement said that on October 8,2018, Police Awantipora received a reliable information that the active militant of banned militant outfit HM namely Adil Ahmad Bhat a resident of Malangpora Pulwama has handed over a huge amount to one OGW namely Rouf-ul-Islam Wani son of Abdul Aziz Wani a resident of Batpora Ladhoo Khrew for distribution of same among other militants and OGWs for carrying out militant activities in the area. "On receipt of this information, a case FIR No. 75/2018 U/S 17,18,20,21,38,39 and 40 ULA(P) Act was registered at P/S Khrew and investigation initiated," the spokesman said. The spokesman said that during the course of investigation, Rouf-ul-Islam Wani was apprehended and during questioning disclosed that he had received huge cash from active militant Adil Ahmad Bhat for distribution of the same among the other militants and OGWs of HM outfit for raising the necessary support structure for the said banned militant organization and also for luring youth towards joining militant ranks. "The said accused disclosed that the cash amount was handed over to Mohd Maqbool Wani son of Ghulam Qadir Wani resident of Batapora Ladhoo, Shakeel Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohd Wani resident of Ladhoo and Musaib Aziz Gojree son of Abdul Aziz a resident of Namblabal Pampore, the OGWs of banned militant outfit HM," said police spokesman. "All the other 03 OGWs were also apprehended and subsequently cash amounts were recovered at four different places," he added. "The investigation conducted so far reveals that the amount so recovered was intended to be used for the purpose of militancy. Further investigation is in progress," said police spokesman.
