DDC Jammu reviews preparedness to tackle Dengue

JAMMU, Oct 13: District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today reviewed the preparedness of different departments to tackle with Dengue in the district.
DC was informed by the health authorities that a total 56 cases have been reported in the state this year out of which 27 cases were reported from the district Jammu.
DC directed the health authorities to get report of all the cases of Dengue including private clinics on regular basis. He further instructed the concerned department to make people aware through IEC activities.
Ramesh Kumar instructed the officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Executive Officers (EOs) of Municipal Committees to carry out fogging of all their areas especially the old city and public places. DDC also directed the concerned departments to procure sufficient mosquito fogging machines and vehicles to cover all the required areas. He furthered stressed to the concerned that proper fogging and dewatering be ensured at Darbar move colonies and areas of old cities.
He also directed CEO Jammu to carry out awareness in schools about the causes and preventive measures of dengue including maintenance of cleanliness in and around habitation, dewatering of coolers, flowerpots, and other water container which can act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes.
DDC also enquired about the status of 'Jan Aushadhi' scheme in the district.
He urged the Red Cross Society to establish Jan Aushadhi centres in GMC and SMGSH Jammu for quality medicines at affordable prices to the general masses.
Among others the meeting was also attended by Joint Commissioner JMC P.S Manhas, Deputy Director Health Chander Prakash, CMO Jammu Sanjay Turki, CEO Jammu J.K Sudan, Deputy Medical Superintendent GMC Rakesh Kumar Sharma, and other senior officers of the concerned departments.
