Policeman shot dead in Sopore, SPO crushed to death in Kupwara

BARAMULLA, Oct 13: A policeman was killed after fired upon by suspected militants in Warpora area of Sopore in Baramulla district on Friday night, while as SPO was crushed by a speedy tipper in Kupwara. According to sources, at around 10:45 pm on Friday (Oct 12/2018) unidentified gunmen barged inside the house of policeman (follower) Javid Ahmad Lone S/O Abdul Khaliq Lone and fired upon him at Warpora in Dangerpora area of Sopore town.
Lone, suffered serious bullet injuries in the incident and he immediately moved to the nearby sub district hospital Sopore for advanced treatment, but he succumbed to injuries, sources told Early Times.
Sources said that the deceased lone was working as a follower in the police department.
However a top police official said that the deceased Javid Ahmad Lone was fired upon by the militants, and at his home in Warpora village, about 3 kms away from Sopore town, adding the militants had barged inside the house of the deceased.
He was working as a follower in police department and the deceased was on leave, a joint team of security forces had cordoned off the area to nab the assailants, adding that the investigations in the case have been taken up.
A wreath laying ceremony was held for slain policeman Javeed Ahmad Lone at District Police Lines Sopore on Saturday.

Police officers led by DIG NKR Atul Kumar Goyal and SP Sopore Javid Iqbl laid floral wreaths and paid rich tributes to the slain Police man Meanwhile a special police officer (SPO) was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle (tipper) in Kralpora area of this north Kashmir district on Saturday morning.
A senior police official from this district said that the SPO Danish Ahmed Payer was injured critically after hit by the tipper at main market Kralpora at about 07:45 am.
The injured SPO was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed, the official said. The official said that the tipper driver run away from the spot, after which the naka was established to nab him, however a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigations into the matter have been initiated.
