40 bovines rescued

Rajouri, Oct 21: Foiling separate bovine smuggling bids across Rajouri district, police here has rescued forty bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
Police spokesman said that a police team intercepted the movement of three vehicles bearing registration number JK11C-6430, JK11A-1398 and JK11C-6432 loaded with bovine animals and drivers were signaled to stop the vehicles.
However, drivers escaped from the spot along with vehicles at Soker Gali and moved towards Palma Peeri area.
Spokesman further said that police team chased the vehicle and later found the vehicles parked on roadside as drivers escaped from the spot after taking advantage of darkness while fourteen bovines were rescued by police team and vehicles were seized.
Cognizance of the matter has been taken and police has lodged two FIRs in this connection.
Meanwhile, today morning at about 4:30, information was received that five Tata Mobiles are on way to Rajouri from Nowshera side on highway after they broke a police Naka.
Acting on the information a team of police swung into action and raised multiple nakas on highway. However later, three vehicles were found parked on highway at Bathuni and two others at some distance in same village.
These vehicles included JK11B-4649, JK11B-4673, JK11B-4669, JK11B-4663 and JK03E-4887 and 26 bovine animals were found loaded in these vehicles which have been rescued.
Two FIRs 590/18 and 591/18 under sections 279, 336 and 295-A of RPC and 3 PCA Act and Act have been registered at Police Station Rajouri and search of accused drivers and smugglers was going on.
