NC backed candidates to stake claim for Kishtwar Municipality

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Amid failure of PDP efforts to rope in independents and after hectic efforts and lobbying since last over 48 hours, the National Conference in Kishtwar District manage to win the support of one independent Zahid Hussain Sheikh who won the municipality elections from Ward No. 3 of Kishtwar by beating the NC backed Independent candidate Ather Hussain by 24 votes.
NC District President Kishtwar Tanveer Ahmad Kichloo reached out to independent and requested him to join the party and strength the secular fabrics in Kishtwar District, besides he was also approached by PDP.
After both the parties approached him, Zahid held a detailed meeting and discussion with the people who voted in his favor as well as from the mohallah, after which he decided to join the National Conference along with his supporters around 150 in number. With the joining of Zahid NC tally increased to six in Kishtwar town elections while another candidate who wins the election on NC backing from Ward No 8 of Kishtwar Municipality though turn hostile soon after winning the ward election, but the resentment from the neighbors and social boycott threat from the voter who voted for him in resentment towards the BJP candidate force him to join the NC camp and gives his consent in support of the Raiz Ahmed Zarger for the post of President Kishtwar Municipal Committee .
Shahid Parvaiz Kripak who wins the election from Ward No. 8 is said to be close to PDP lobby, but has seek support of NC on oath as party has majority of vote chunk in ward No. 8.
After public outcry, the Kripak shed its rigidity as a result of which the NC backed lobby easily sail through towards simple majority in 13 ward Kishtwar Municipality.
Meanwhile another independent Candidate who earlier planned to join Congress has established contact with NC leadership and showed her willingness to join the party for which the talks and terms and condition are being finalized.
Speaking to Early Times Kishtwar Municipality President in waiting Raiz Ahmed Zarger confirm the support of seven candidates for the post of Presidentship of Kishtwar Muncipal Committee.
