Abdullahs, Muftis silent on jawans martyrdom
10/22/2018 10:48:23 PM

Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 22: Even as the regional parties in the state including National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have left no stone unturned to condemn the killing of civilians in Kulgam blast, none of them uttered a word for the Sahastra Sema Bal jawan killed in adjacent Tral on the same day by militants.
While six civilians were killed in an explosion at a gunfight site in Kulgam area of south Kashmir, a SSB jawan was killed on Sunday night when militants fired at Central Reserve Police Force camp at Middora in Tral.
While the PDP and the NC seemingly tried to gain political mileage out of the killings that took place in Kulgam, they remained silent over the killing of the brave jawan.
The National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah issued a statement to condemn the civilian killings in Kulgam terming them as "highly fortunate."
In a statement Dr Abdullah said: "It is heartening to learn about such incidents which have become a norm. The situation calls for immediate de-escalation from all sides."
Expressing heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families, the Abdullahs prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Former chief minister and PDP President Mehboboa Mufti, on the other hand, while expressing shock and grief addressed to Governor SP Malik.
In a statement she appealed Malik to ensure that all standard operation procedures are strictly adhered to while dealing with security situations.
But there was no word of condolence or condemnation over the killing of SSB man Vijay Kumar Mishra who sustained a bullet injury on his head.
Militants had targeted the CRPF camp of its 180 battalion. Mishra who was wounded in the attack was rushed to hospital where he succumbed.
Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A senior official pleading anonymity said it was unfortunate that the politicians forget the sacrifice of jawans who lay their lives for the country.
