Early Times Report
anantnag, Oct 22: Militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen's Operational Commander Reyaz Naikoo, in fresh video tape has admitted that militants operating in Kashmir were facing shortage of arms and ammunition.
Video tape, which has appeared on social media sites, suggests that Naikoo has addressed Hizb cadre in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
"Three factors are responsible for the success of armed struggle-support of locals, hiding places and arms supply. Let me tell you with the will of Almighty we are enjoying good support of locals and when locals support you generously its means you don't have dearth of hiding places but as far as supply is considered we facing shortage of arms," Naikoo can be heard saying in the video tape.
Naikoo, 30, a resident of Naikoo Mohalla in Durbug of Awantipora, says that militants operating in Kashmir face shortage of arms and ammunition to such extent that his men have to fight with pistols and other weapons.
"In nineties our brother (militants) used to have five to six magazines and today we have to fight with just one or two magazines," he says. Naikoo, who has been listed as a category "A++" militant, which is given to the most-wanted militants in the valley, however says that his intention isn't to criticize his handlers.
"I want you all people to pounder over and shoulder the responsibilities. You all know what we have received from the base camp," he says, apparently asking his handlers to sent arms and ammunition into Kashmir.
Naikoo can also be heard criticizing Pakistani politicians and diplomats. "They failed us on and Kashmir issue is being used for electoral benefits," he says.
Reyaz Naikoo is Chief of Hizbul Mujahideen. He took over as chief of the militant outfit in the valley after the killing of his associate Sabzar Bhat in May last year. He started figuring prominently on the radar of security agencies after the killing of militant poster boy Burhan Wani in 2016. He carries a reward of Rs 12 lakh on his head.
Before ULB elections, Naikoo threatened that militants will carry acid attacks on all those who will contest the elections. Later regional mainstream political parties-National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party-also announced boycott because of which Kashmir witnessed poor participation of people in elections and over hundreds of municipal wards didn't see any nominations.
