Ramban, Oct 22: Ramban police today claimed to have recovered 110 kg poppy straw (bhukki) filled in gunny bags which some unknown persons have dumped/ concealed aside the road beneath the bushes.
Police spokesman said that special naka's has been established on NHW especially to check smuggling of drugs, bovine smuggling etc. on the directions of Anita Sharma-SSP Ramban and today a police party led by Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar-SHO Batote under supervision of DySP Hq Ramban-Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Sanjay Parihar-Additional SP conducted patrolling of Batote-Patnitop road.
"During patrolling near Amar Chashma the patrol party seen the gunny bags aside the road beneath the bushes and on search, the gunny bags found filled with Poppy Straw (Bhukki) like substance weighing about 110 Kg which some unknown persons have dumped/ concealed", said spokesman adding that the Magistrate have been called on SOC and the said contraband have been seized on spot.
It is pertinent to mention that Ramban police have tightened the noose of smugglers by placing the surprise naka's on Patnitop- Batote road too, in addition to the static naka's on NHW.
In this regard a case under FIR NO 116/18 under section 8/15 of NDPS Act got registered at Batote police station investigation have been gear up to ascertain the source, persons who have kept the consignment concealed and are involved in smuggling of drug.
