Leadership through sports programme for J&K commenced

New Delhi, Oct 22: Leadership through Sports Programme for Jammu and Kashmir commenced at N.M.A.K.P. Sports Complex, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu apprised that the project is funded by the US Embassy in India under US India mission public diplomacy grants. The project is being implemented by Central University of Jammu and Ball State University from August 2018- June 30, 2019.
He further added that the project is a two-phased programme with the goals to strengthen people to people ties between the US and India through a collaborative exchange of information, experiences, and expertise besides strengthening the leadership and administrative capacity of youth in J&K for inclusive growth.
Dr Lindsey C Blom and Prof Lawrence Greisten from Ball State University briefed the participants about the project and introduced the trainers and teams members of the Project. They further apprised that this program would strengthen the existing skills of the participants for promoting peace and tranquility in the region by serving the underserved youth of the region.
Bryce Isham, First Secretary for Exchanges in the US Embassy, New Delhi appreciated the efforts of both the Universities and congratulated the participants and organizers for implementation of the program which would lead in creating to a prosperous and vibrant society. She further assured that more such initiatives will be undertaken for promoting collaborative ties between Central University of Jammu and US based Higher Educational Institutions. In this programme 20 local coached and sports administrators from across the state of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the event.
