Reasi, Oct 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Department of Horticulture, Reasi have continued 35 days skill development training programme on "Propagation Techniques in Fruit Crops" for the farmers here at Govt. Fruit Plants Nursery, Pouni. 22 farmers from different areas of Reasi district are the trainees.
Dr. Banarsi Lal, Incharge, Sr. Scientist-cum- Head of KVK, Reasi while highlighting the significance of the programme said that the major objective of the programme is to develop skill among the farmers especially on nursery raising techniques and propagation techniques in fruit crops which further can enhance income and employment among the farmers.
He demonstrated the air layering and veneer grafting in litchi and mango crop respectively.
He also demonstrated fruit plants nursery raising techniques under protected conditions.
He said that farmers should use the improved/hybrid varieties of sub-tropical fruits so that their fruit crops production can be increased.
He emphasized on commercial horticulture and guided the farmers on proper layout of orchards. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal, Chetan Sharma and Chamel Singh.
