Meeting of block child protection committee held

Samba, Oct 25: A meeting of Block Child Protection Committee (BCPC), Bari Brahmana block was held today at Panchayat Ghar Meen Charkan.
The meeting was organized by National Development Foundation in collaboration with ICPS department and with the funding support of the European Union. Around 30 BCPC members including Sandeep Gupta Child Development Project Officer Parmandal, Mehboob Iqbal Khan Block Medical Officer Parmandal, Anshu Mali Sharma Block Development Officer Parmandal, Gopal Khajuria Zonal Education Officer, Vijaypur members of Child Protection Committees and Children Groups from ten villages of district Samba participated in the meeting.
Neha Gandotra Chief Operating Officer National Development Foundation sensitized the participants on child rights, Child protection, ICPS, J&K JJ Act 2013 and the need of multi sectoral convergent approach to build protective environment for children. In depth discussions were held to develop understanding on vulnerable children including children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law and the roles & responsibilities of BCPC in addressing the issues of vulnerable children.
Sandeep Gupta CDPO highlighted the role of ICDS as first step towards health and happy childhood and emphasised on role of all the stakeholders in implementation of ICPS. BMO discussed in detail the effects of violence on mental and psychological health of the children.
