GDC Thannamandi Organizes Alumni Meet

Rajouri, Oct 25: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi today organized its first Alumni Meet 2018. Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina was Chief Guest on the occasion. In the function, several former students of the College participated and shared their professional and academic progress.
They appreciated the development of the College over the last 13 years, and said that it was the hard work and dedication of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina that the College had blossomed into a premier institution of Higher Education in the state, and had become a hub of academic activity in the Pir Panjal region.
They also shared the sweet memories of the college. An Alumni Association was created by former students, and Dr. Ather Aziz Raina was unanimously elected as President, while Naseer Ahmed Choudhary, Mohsin Ul Alim and Nahida Kouser were elected as Vice President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively. A documentary showing the activities of the college for the last 3 years was also shown to the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed presented a brief history of the College, and said that the college which had started in two rooms of Higher Secondary School was today gearing up for NAAC Accreditation. He said that the Alumni were the gem and pride of the College, and it was very heartening to see that the students which were groomed at GDC Thannamandi were now excelling in various academic and professional fields. He told the alumni of the college to keep in constant touch of the College and share their progress from time to time. Earlier the programme started with recitation of few verses of Holy Quran. The Welcome Address was given by HOD Chemistry and Programme Incharge Dr. Mukaddus Kariem. The Programme was compared by Prof. Shaji Khan while Vote of Thanks was given by Dr. Nahim Un Nisa.
