GDC Ramnagar conducts Industrial visit for students

UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: GDC Ramnagar under the stewardship of Prof. Anuradha Sharma (HOD, Department of Environmental Sciences) and Ravinder Kumar (Lecturer in Environmental Sciences) conducted one day industrial excursion for the students of Sem V of Environmental Sciences to industrial area at Battal Ballian, Udhampur.
The visit commenced with the flagging off the trip by Dr. Yash Paul Kundal, Principal GDC Ramnagar. The visit was very well arranged and coordinated by Sh. Aamir Choudhary (Functional Manager, DIC Udhampur), Sumit Gupta and Tarun Gupta (Industrial Promotion Officers, DIC Udhampur) who were specially deputed by the General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Udhampur for this purpose.
The students and accompanied staff members visited two different industries at Industrial Complex, Battal Ballian Udhampur and were shown various industrial operations, pollution control devices and working of effluent treatment plant. Firstly, they were taken to Shri Ram Industries (CEMCOM) where Sukhdev Singh (General Manager) welcomed the students and staff of the College and also highlighted the manufacturing and processing of different forms of cement and the kinds of pollutants most prevalently released in cement industry.
They also discussed various control devices being installed at Cements Industries.
The students were exposed to the practical Knowledge and first-hand experience regarding functioning of bag filters, cyclones, wet scrubbers and many others such devices which were underuse in this industry.
Then the students were headed towards Dhanuka Agritech Limited where Amit Dubey (Human Resource Manager) and associated staff members in its premises briefed the students about how the production of various insecticides, fungicides and plant growth hormones was carried out and the various treatment methods adopted to mitigate the problem of waste waster generation and its discharge.
Visit concluded with the formal vote of thanks proposed by students to officials of DIC Udhampur, managers and the entire management team of industries for the smooth conduct of this visit. The industry officials were also honoured by a token of gratitude and respect by Prof. Anuradha Sharma (HOD, Deptt. of Environmental Sciences) and Ravinder Kumar (Lecturer in Environmntal Sciences).
