| Cataract camp of VCT concludes | | |

AKHNOOR, Oct 26: A three day long free Cataract Operation Camp held at Sub District Hospital Akhnoor by Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) Old Care Society in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services Jammu concluded here today.
A team of eye surgeons of Health Department including senior eye surgeon Dr Ghanshyam, Dr Shekhar and Dr Urmila checked up over 200 patients suffering from various eye ailments and were given treatment with free medicines. Intra Ocular lenses were implanted in 27 patients to restore their vision. They were assisted by Ophthalmic Assistants Ashok Kumar, Ram Krishan Sharma and Hari Krishan.
Dr M P Singh of District Blindness Control Society also visited the camp.
BMO SDH and the local staff extended full cooperation in the camp. Most of the patients were aged and belonged to weaker sections of the society. Some of them had come from Reasi and Sunderbani as there is no separate operation theatre for cataract surgery. Free lodging, boardin , medicines, tonics, Rs 50 to each patient as bus fare and other allied facilities were provided to the indoor patients by the Trust . |
