Awareness camp on "Mediation & Conciliation" organized

BHADERWAH, Oct 26: An awareness camp on mediation as an alternate dispute resolution was organized here in District Court Complex, Bhaderwah by the District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah.
The camp was organized under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Principal District & Sessions Judge Bhaderwah which was attended by the judicial officers posted at Bhaderwah, members of the Bar Association Bhaderwah and the litigants.
MK Sharma, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah while speaking on the occasion, informed the participants that the process of mediation is a guided negotiation. He said that the parties attempt to resolve their disputes aided by a mediator. He further emphasized that settling disputes through mediation can save money, ease the court load and more often than not it leaves the parties in better state of mind. He counted several benefits of settlement of disputes through ADR mechanism. The judicial officers were impressed upon to inform the litigants about their right to get their disputes settled through ADR in terms of section 89 CPC. The keynote address of Sharma was followed by an open discussion on the topic wherein the judicial officers as well as advocates participated and expressed their views to achieve the objective of section 89 CPC.
