For 'friend's' sake, NC leader counters Congress twiteratti

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 2: On Thursday evening, a senior leader of the National Conference lashed out at the Congress for allegedly bringing down the level of political discourse.
In a tweet, the NC leader fumed at the Congress for making personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying such attacks only work to Modi's advantage.
What apparently triggered him was a tweet by Congress IT cell chief Divya Spandana, in which she takes a dig at the PM.
Many started thinking that the NC leader, who has been holding relations with the Congress, now wanted to improve ties with the Bharatiya Janta Party ahead of the 2019 general elections and thus made such a tweet.
But the reason behind the tweet by the NC leader was found in his "friend. "Exactly five minutes ahead of the tweet by the NC leader, his "friend" had targeted the Congress IT chief on the twitter.
But Spandana had taken on the NC leader's "friend" who tried to tell it wasn't appropriate for her to make such comments because she occupied an official position in the Congress party. Sources said the NC leader wanted to show his "friend" that he was by her side all the times.
"Otherwise, he never wants to displease Congress or its leaders. It has happened for the first time publicly," said a politician on the condition of anonymity.
The NC leader was some months ago seen with the same "friend" in the United States of America where they attended a wedding.
That time the NC leader had alleged told his party leaders that he would go abroad to meet his close family members in Europe but he landed in the USA.
Sources said the NC leader relies on his "friend's" advise on most of the issues including political. "The tweet that went against the Congress IT chief has sent a clear message among the political circles that he can do anything for her," said sources in the National Conference.
Despite repeated attempts the NC leader couldn't be contacted for comments.
