Kishtwar, Nov 2: Even after 24 hours since the BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Kumar were gunned down by the unidentified gunmen believed to be the militants, the security forces are clue less about the assailants.
Situation in Kishtwar District today remained tense, but under control after state government imposed Curfew in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas following the political killings. All the entry points leading to Kishtwar town were sealed by the Police and CRPF while army held regular flag march in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas.
Heavy security was also deployed outside the residence of the deceased as well as in and around the cremation ground to thwart any attempt of unscrupulous elements to destabilize the peace and tranquility in the area.
Angry people raised anti Narendra Modi slogans and heckled Minister in Prime Minister Office Dr. Jatindra Singh who was forced by the people to leave the venue in hurry and was only saved by the IGP Jammu S D Singh Jamwal and local SSP Sandeep Wazir. The other senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, Chander Prakesh Ganga, Ravinder Raina, MLA Daleep Singh Parihar, Neelam Langeh, Shakti Parihar, MP Shamsher Singh Manhas and others also left the venue to avoid public anger.The angry people also raised slogans against DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana who was also seen by the people running for the cover.
Following the incident, IGP Jammu S D Singh Jamwal, DIG DKR Rafeeq ul Hassain rushed to Kishtwar to take over the control of security situation.
Speaking to media, IGP Jammu confirmed the hand of the militants behind the incident and added that the killing has been done to scuttle the democratic process ahead of first phase of Panchayat election.
As per the senior police officer, Additional SP Kishtwar Parbeet Singh will head the seven member SIT in which Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Aiyaz Sheikh, SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani, SI Deepak Thakur, Head Constable Abdul Hamid will be among the seven members.
The senior police officer said that the two Personal Security Officer of the deceased namely Sahil Kumar and Deepak Kumar has been detained for questioning to ascertain the reasons that why they were not accompanying the deceased at the time of the incident. Police is also reportedly questioning the helper who works at the stationary shop of the deceased.
Meanwhile Immam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo also condemned the killings of Parihar brothers and said that gruesome murders were aimed to create wedge between the two communities.
The deceased Ajeet Parihar was survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter while Anil Parihar was survived by his wife, two sons.
The curfew according to the sources will continue till tomorrow evening and authorities will take the final call on lifting the curfew only after assessing the situation.
