NITS polytechnic observes vigilance awareness week

Jammu, Nov 2: National Institute of Technology and Sciences (NITS) Polytechnic, Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib in collaboration with Northern Railways observed vigilance awareness week.
More than 700 students, staff and officials of railways participated in the programme.
The program was organised in a bid to reach out to students and motivate them to collectively participate in the fight against corruption and also raising public awareness regarding the detrimental consequences of corruption.
The programme was marked by essay writing, poster making competitions and elocution contest on the theme, 'Eradicate Corruption - Build a New India' wherein students of different departments of the institute enthusiastically participated. Certificates of participation were distributed to all the participants in appreciation of their efforts.
While delivering the welcome address SS Wazir, HOD Electrical Engg Dept. said that corruption is eating into the very vitals of the Indian Society and it is essentials that all the stakeholders particularly the students must dedicate themselves and become proactive in fight against corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, Savinder Gupta, Chairman NITS said that we can make a new India by eradicating corruption and we need to build a corruption free society not only for today but more importantly for the posterity. He said that corruption is the key that stops economic, social, moral and political development and spoils our lives yet we continue to bear with the corruption.
He further said that people talk about the system being corrupted, but in the real sense if we change ourselves the system would definitely change. He maintained that leaders alone cannot give a corruption free society but it needs the participation of every citizen especially the youth to eradicate corruption. He exhorted the students and staff and made them take a integrity pledge in order to inspire them to stay away and fight actively against corruption.
