KVK Reasi Scientist gets Prestigious IARDO Award

jammu, Nov 3: Dr.Banarsi Lal, Incharge, Senior Scientist-cum-Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been conferred with the"IARDO Award-2018" by the International Association of Research and Developed Organization (IARDO) and Gurukul Institute of Engineering & Technology, Kota in the International Award Conference on Multidisciplinary Research and Latest Innovation recently held at the International Centre Panjim,Dona Paula, Goa, India.
The award was given to Dr.Banarsi for his excellent contribution in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.International Association of Research and Developed Organization (IARDO) is a leading organization in the field of academic research activities and it promotes and encourages commendable achievements of the scientists.
Dr.Banarsi is a Gold Medalist and an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He has worked extensively on Mathematical Communication Model Building to assess the communication behaviour of the farmers and after Shannon and Weaver (1948) he is the first scientist who has worked on this arduous research task.
This model can enrich the discipline of agricultural extension and is very useful for the research scholars, scientists, academicians, extension workers etc. Dr.Banarsi has been working at KVK, Reasi for more than 11 years and upgrading the farming community of the hilly areas with the new and innovative agricultural technologies.
Presently the scientist has adopted two organic villages and one fruit and vegetables village in Reasi district of J&K. The scientist has written more than 490 publications as research papers in national and international journals, technical bulletins, leaflets, folders, books and book chapters, popular and research articles, success stories/case studies, training manuals etc.
Dr.Banarsi is striving to transform the subsistence and unsustainable farming to productive and sustainable farming. According to Dr. Banarsi by developing technical skills among the rural people, they can be made employable and employability increases the income and sufficient income leads to a healthy and a prosperous nation. Dr.Banarsi dedicated the award to the farmers.
