| Commuters facing difficulties due to paucity of passenger transport | | | Early Times Report
Nowshera, Dec 8: People in Nowshera subdivision in Rajouri district have criticized the authorities concerned and local administration for the acute shortage of passenger transport on all the routes resulting in inconvenience to the people especially to employees, students and patients. Commuters in the sub division especially students including girls and employees alleged they were facing many difficulties in reaching at their destinations in time in the absence of adequate passenger bus service.
Most of the towns and villages in Nowshera sub division are situated near the border and the employees and students especially girls who are studying in the schools and government Degree College at Nowshera reach late at their destinations / homes.
"After school /college and offices closed, students/employees can be seen stranded at Nowshera bus stand for long hours to wait for mini buses/matadors or three wheelers" said Vinod Sharma, social activist.
"In the past buses were operating on all the routes in Nowshera sub division, but due to mismanagement on part of outgoing president of 2X3 Jammu-Poonch Bus Union, maximum routes are without bus services" said a transporter.
"I along with my other colleagues are waiting for the mini bus for our village Anayatpur, which is about 10 kilometres from Nowshera town, for the last more than one hour" said Suresh Kumar 12th class student.
"Mismanagement on part of ex-president has created chaos in Nowshera sub division. There was bus service/ night halt of buses on every route but during his tenure the routes remained unattended" said Sher Singh new president of the union elected on November 18.
New president has promised to provide buses on all the routes in Nowshera sub division after the panchayat elections are over. |
