Mehbooba seeking trifurcation of Jammu province on religious lines
Conspiracy

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 8: The genuine demand of the Ladakhi Buddhists and Shiite Muslims seeking separate administrative set-up and divisional status for their Cold-Desert region has stung Kashmiri leaders, especially pro-self-rule PDP. It has so stung its chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti that she has demanded three-way split of Jammu province and warned that if Ladakh was granted divisional status and the so-called Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal were not granted similar status, her party would launch an agitation.
The demand of the Ladakhis is as genuine as it deserves immediate attention and action considering the fact that the region had suffered enormous losses during the past 71 years at the hands of the Kashmiri rulers. Ladakh till date is administratively part of the Kashmir province and this has added to the problems of the people of Ladakh as they have to come to Srinagar to get some of their works done. The reason is that headquarters of the Kashmir division and all directorates are located in Srinagar.
Mehbooba Mufti has virtually opposed the Ladakhi demand for divisional status by laying down a condition that Ladakh, "Chenab Valley" and "Pir Panchal" be granted the status of divisional status simultaneously. It's nothing but a deep-rooted conspiracy against the people of Jammu province. And it is hatched to destroy the age-old identity of Jammu province which, like Ladakh, has been suffering socio-economic and political losses since October 1947 at the hands of Kashmiri rulers backed to the hilt by New Delhi.
There exists no such Valley as the Chenab valley anywhere in Jammu province. By Chenab Valley, Mehbooba and other Kashmiri leaders mean three districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, where the population of the Hindus and the Muslims is almost evenly balanced. The proportion is 45:55. All these three districts are located in the mighty Pir Panchal mountain range. If at all there exists a Valley in Jammu province, it exists in the Reasi districts between Reasi town and Salal Hydel power project. To call Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban "Chenab Valley is to mislead the people and murder geography. Valley is a definite geographical term and Mehbooba Mufti and other of her ilk, who want to create Greater Kashmir consisting of Kashmir and Muslim-majority areas of Jammu and Ladakh, are interpreting the term in a wrong way to promote her insidious and break-Jammu agenda.
Similarly, by Pir Panchal, Mehbooba Mufti and ilk mean Poonch district and parts of Rajouri district. Even a naïve would reject Mehbooba Mufti's nasty formulations in no time as Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Poonch and Rajouri all are located in the same mountain range, called Pir Panchal Mountain range.
The powers-that-be in the state and at the centre need to clear the air and call the bluff of Mehbooba Mufti and others who are terming Pir Panchal Mountain as Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Valley. The people of Jammu province also have to stand up and oppose in one voice those in Kashmir who want disintegration of Jammu province to further their separatist and communal agenda.
In the meantime, the Buddhist and Shia leadership in Ladakh has lambasted Mehbooba Mufti and said her opposition to their demand for divisional status is politically motivated and that they reject her. It needs to be noted that the PDP has no support-base whatever in Ladakh.
