New Delhi concerned as JRL protest calendar enjoys field day in Kashmir
12/8/2018 10:56:59 PM
Early Times Report
srinagar, Dec 8: Even as the so called Joint Resistance Leadership of the separatists had given a call for week-long protest program in the connection with the Human Rights Day, some supporters of the anti-India lobby had a field day in Kashmir.
During the ongoing week, scores of protest programs including candlelight protests were held in parts of Kashmir including Srinagar while New Delhi is understood to have taken a serious note of alleged lapse on the part of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Sources said New Delhi would seek explanation from the Jammu and Kashmir Police with regard to the issue.
The JRL had given a protest calendar for the week. From the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front to the Hurriyat M and Hurriyat G, leaders and supporters of the separatist lobby held protest demonstrations against New Delhi.
Sources said the Pakistani handlers of the separatists had wanted that a week-long protest program be held in Kashmir.
In Srinagar, various protest rallies were taken out in areas like Maisuma while similar protest programs were held in the downtown areas like Nowhatta.
Apart from making the details of the protest programs public, the JRL and its constituents have been issuing press handouts highlighting how and where the said protests were held.
As per the handout of the JKLF, the protest programs were held across Kashmir whereas Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tweeted about protests held in downtown of Srinagar.
Sources said New Delhi has taken serious note of reports that the separatists have been successfully implementing their protest calendar in Kashmir.
Whereas the protests were being held, the police allowed Mirwaiz to address Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid. "If the protest calendar was underway, the police should have refrained from allowing him (Mirwaiz) to add fuel to the fire. But unfortunately he was allowed to do the same," said one officer on the condition of anonymity.
Interestingly, the Mirwaiz made pro-Pakistan statements during his speech.
It was reliably learnt that New Delhi has taken a serious note of the issue as the central government has sought zero implementation of the protest calendars as and when given by the separatists.
"By allowing the Human Rights Week to be held, a wrong notion has been sent across the country," said a source close to corridors of power.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned authorities were not available for comments.
