Advisor Vijay Kumar visits CHC Mandi, reviews health facilities

Poonch, Dec 9: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today visited the Community Health Centre Mandi and took stock of health services provided to the people at this health institution.
Principal Secretary Health Atal Dulloo accompanied the Advisor during the visit, while as Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav, DIG Deepak Kumar Salathia, Director Health Services Jammu Dr Samir Mattoo, Principal GMC Jammu Dr Sunanda Raina and other district officers were present on the occasion.
At CHC Mandi, the Advisor interacted with the patients and enquired about the health facilities which are available for them at the facility.
He also chaired a meeting with the doctors and medical staff and reviewed the functioning of CHC.
During the deliberations, Vijay Kumar discussed with the medical fraternity the issue of a Pralkote of village Sawjian where 16 cases of deaf and dumb were reported.
The advisor directed the health department to constitute a team of doctors to provide remedial measures such as speech therapy and other related treatment to the deaf and dumb children.
He also directed to carry out a detailed research to find the reasons behind such problem in a particular area. It is pertinent to mention here that a team of Specialists and ENT Doctors diagnosed 16 cases of deaf and dumb in the said hamlet.

Meanwhile, the Advisor also met various public delegations of tehsil Mandi where people presented their demands related to health and roads in Arai and Sabjian. The demand of Surgeons and Specialists in CHC Mandi was also raised to which Advisor informed the public that soon the shortage would be removed for which the process is underway.
The Advisor also visited the Palera Road accident spot. He on the behalf of Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner Poonch to provide ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the legal heir of deceased people in the tragic road accident that took place on December 08.
Later in the day, DC Rahul Yadav on the directions of the Advisor visited the families of Palera accident. He expressed his deep sympathies with the bereaved families and dispersed ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 Lakh each to the families of 13 persons who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
