Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 9: Undermining the intellect of professors working in the Central University of Jammu, a Deputy Registrar openly used derogatory language against the Head of the departments (HODs), mockingly comparing them with nuclear scientists.
The derogatory remarks were not made in any closed room but in front of hundreds of students and scholars by the deputy registrar in a fit of anger, leaving the gathering totally stunned.
The incident happened last week in the Central University of Jammu, when the drivers of the buses refused to overload their buses during the off hours. The drivers had refused to return from university as they had to board over 70 students in the buses against the capacity of 48.
When the transport incharge failed to persuade the bus drivers, he made a call to the incharge Deputy Registrar, who reached the bus stop and held a discussion with the drivers. Instead of addressing the issue amicably, the Deputy Registrar in a fit of anger lashed out at the students sitting in the buses, expressing surprise over increase in number of students.
"The officer was virtually abusing the students and scholars and undermining the motive of their coming to university and hinting that students were indulging in debauchery", the students informed.
The Deputy Registrar in harsh tone, asked the scholars to come down in front of all the students, lashing out at them.
The Dy registrar went further and while mocking the HODs said, "I know, your HODs are nuclear scientists". The words used by Dy Registrar left the scholars perplexed, who in turn questioned the Dy Registrar but in the meantime, another administrative official intervened and tried to diffuse the situation. Anger is brewing among the students, scholars and teaching faculty against the Dy Registrar for using such derogatory remarks.
"The Vice Chancellor must initiate an enquiry and take action against the Dy Registrar for such uncivilized behavior" the scholars demanded.
