| Mahi Chak villagers stage demos against PHE | | Seek safe and regular water supply | |  Early Times Report
Kathua, Dec 11: Peeved over the dirty water supply people from Mahi Chack village of Barnoti Block of District Kathua staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in front of the DC Office Kathua on Monday. A large number of people, including women, assembled at DC office and shouted slogans against PHE department demanding clean regular water supply in the village. " From the past few months the water supply in our area is unsafe and irregular. Sometimes snakes have oozed out of the taps. We are being forced to drink contaminated water," the locals said.
The villagers also said that there were massive leaks in the pipes from where dirt goes into the water supplied to them.
Later the protesters met ACR Jatinder Mishra and apprised him of the problem. He assured proper action. |
