Blue eyed enrolled in PhD programme, deserving ignored

JAMMU, Dec 11: In yet another instance of favouritism, the Home Science Department of University of Jammu has enrolled a blue eyed candidate for the programme of Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in violation of norms and ignored deserving ones.
Sources informed Early Times that on September 7, the Home Science Department conducted an entrance test for the PhD programme, in which dozens of aspirants were participated. But during the examination, an aspirant belong to Kashmir valley and perusing the B.Ed from Kashmir University was clearly seen using mobile phone in the examination centre for cheating and was caught by the Superintendent.
"However, the centre superintendent was supposed to cancel her paper and case of unfair means had to be registered against her. Astonishingly, when the result of the exam was declared, the same candidates who was indulged in cheating by using mobile phone in the examination hall, was selected", said sources while wishing anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention here that the influential candidate is already pursuing B.Ed from the Kashmir University and is already enrolled there. Despite all of these, she has been get enrolment in PhD programme and running two degree simultaneously. The status of her admission in the Kashmir University can be kept confidentially as the candidate is backed by Valley based influential family.
Sources further said that she has not even produced so far the migration certificate before the selection committee but despite all of these, she pursuing her PhD programme regularly
"It is a clear cut case of favouritism and corruption by the head of department (HOD) that a candidate caught by superintendent while making use of mobile phone in the examination all was selected and given admission for PhD programme", alleged an aspirant on condition not to be mentioned her.
They further said that now the influential candidate has been shielded by many teachers faculty in the department as she is pushed by HOD of the department and no one is raising their voice against the misdeed and corrupt practise, resulting the deserving candidates feel dejected by the act of administration.
The aspirants urged the Vice Chancellor of the varsity to frame a committee which look after the case of nepotism and take a strong action against the HoD of Home Science Department who indulged in act of favouritism.
