AAP JK demands rotation of reserved constituencies

Jammu, Dec 20: Aam Aadmi Party-J&K today demanded rotation of Reserved Constituencies in the State.
AAP members toady held a meeting under the chairmanship of National Council and Founder Member S. Deep Sigh and discussed political scenario in the state particularly after the conclusion of ULB and Panchayati elections.
Various speakers while hailing the successful Panchayat elections in the State, demanded that suitable amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act need be made urgently removing ban on the nomination to the office of Chairman Block Development Council that any person/ women wishing to nominate him/her self as Chairman should either be a Panch or Sarpanch from any ward falling within any Panchayat of the Block.
This amount to strangulation of sprit of democracy and democratic institutions, the release said and added that the rider should therefore be removed forthwith and any person who figures in the electoral roll of Block should be allowed to nominate himself for the office of chairman, Block Development Council. This will go a long way in strengthening the tenets of democracy in the largest democracy of the world, the released maintained.
The meeting further passed a resolution unanimously urging upon the Governor to use his constitutional power to make amendment in the People's Representation Act to ensure rotation of Reserved Constituencies which have remained blocked for last about 20 years to pave way for the other constituencies where SC population is waiting yearning for reservation, the release said.
Those who participated in the meeting include S/Sh. Ram Singh Chauhan, Farooq Ahmed Banday, Kuldeep Kumar Rao, Om Parkash Khajuria , S. Parvinder Singh, S.S Jamwal, Mehar Singh , Ram Pal Khajuria, C.L.Sharma and Amit Langer.
