Worries ahead for PDP: Patron Baig continues to fire tirade against leadership
12/20/2018 11:18:22 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: Finding it difficult to keep its flock together, PDP is likely to face more worries because party's newly appointed patron Muzzafar Hussain Baig has yet not stopped speaking against wrong decisions taken by party supremo Mehbooba Mufti.
Baig was appointed patron of the PDP in the recently held meeting of party leaders to pacify him because he (Baig) was publically opposing 'wrong' decisions taken by Mehbooba Mufti, from time to time.
After his appointment as patron of the party, Mehbooba Mufti was thinking that Baig, one of the founder of PDP, will be pacified but Baig has continued his tirade against leadership for 'blunders'.
In an interview with a national news paper Baig termed the boycott of the recently concluded municipal and panchayat elections as a "mischief". Baig pointed finger of suspicion towards communal and anti-India coterie in PDP and said that party president Mehbooba Mufti was compelled by some party leaders to stay away from the poll.
Expressing apprehensions about the PDP repeating its 2014 electoral performance, he suggested the party should re-embrace its founding principles and publicly apologise for the 2016 unrest killings and pellet injuries that happened during its term.
Baig had, earlier even hinted at joining the emerging third front led by Sajad Lone.
Baig conceded that he was not sure whether the PDP would be able to repeat the 2014 Assembly poll performance. It had won the highest number (28) of seats since its formation in 1999.
