Most dreadful coup within PDP in offing
Senior leader to float new party
12/20/2018 11:18:34 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: : A major coup within the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) is in the offing with one of its senior leaders all set to form another third front with the support of no less than 16 former PDP MLAs.
As per the sources privy to this vital development, the senior leader has almost finalised all his preparations to leave PDP and is in talks with other party legislators so that a joint front could be given a final shape.
The leader in question has already announced his decision to his workers, sources divulged.
It was informed further that this senior PDP leader is in active talks with other former MLAs of the party and that it has been assured from no less than 15 other senior leaders and former MLAs to him that he shall enjoy their full support. "It means they will contest the polls and seek anti-PDP votes from the people during elections. This is going to be really an interesting situation to watch," said a leader of the National Conference.
Meanwhile, as per sources, the leader who has heading a major coup within the PDP had a war of words with the party leadership recently over the latter giving unnecessary importance to a particular leader within the party. The leader had questioned party's approach and had asked it to sideline the person whom he termed as a 'para-topper'.
Pertinently, when former PDP leader and minister Basharat Bukhari joined NC, he hinted at the rise of sycophants within the PDP, stating that the PDP leadership wouldn't need his advice as there are many sycophants who have been airdropped in the party.
Also, along with Basharat Bukhari another PDP leader who was among the party's founding members- Peer Hussain also left the party amid rising disgruntlement.
Peer was once considered as close confidante of former Chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He was appointed vice chairman of the Waqf Board in 2015. Last year, however, he was forced to resign as his son was sacked from his post, he issued a public statement and ridiculed the party.
Ten former legislators from the PDP have so far left the party. Imran Ansari, his uncle Abid Ansari, Abaas Wani, Haseeb Drabu, Raja Aijaz Ali, Basharat Bukhari, Mehboob Iqbal and Peer Hussian are few who have formally announced their decision of resigning from the party.
It is now only a matter of time that when the leader will reveal his cards that so far he has been keeping closer to his chest.
