Tana Bana event at Delhi Hatt

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: In what can be seen as brazen violation of what rights have been guaranteed under Article 51(A) of the constitution, real and genuine artisans from J&K are being their rightful place in the annual exhibition Tana Bana at popular Delhi Hatt by the organizers of the event. As the money is said to be playing major role in allotment of stalls, many fake artisans have managed their entry and undeserved stalls at the prestigious event, thanks to a nexus of some NGOs and organizers which is facilitating them.
Sources said as the artisans (Karigars) have converged in Delhi for this annual exhibition, there are only few, around 4-5 of them who are eligible for getting stalls as per the guidelines of the concerned ministry. As per the guidelines , the show is mainly meant for Handloom Societies and Handloom awardees for all the states. The preference has to be given to Indian Handloom brand , said an artisan from Kashmir. The concerned Union ministry under whose supervision the event gets approval is being misled with names of fake groups or individuals who do not even have basic credentials to be partipants, he said adding that one of the stall has been allegedly allotted on a name who died few years back.
Sources further said that the real and genuine artisans who have been honoured and identified for their special skills are being pushed aside this year as the money is playing big role in the entire affair.
Awardees under Sant Kabir and Shilp Guru category too are being ignored and irregularities in the allotment of stalls is brazen for the next batch of entrants for exhibition which will commence from January1-15. Genuine artisans are crying foul as they feel harassed and are not ready to pay amount asked by some NGOs to secure a stall, sources said . They are demanding the concerned officers, ADC in the Union ministry look into the matter so that interests of the real artisans and this craft are safeguarded.
