Anti-Ragging Awareness Program held

Jammu, Dec 20: An Anti-Ragging Awareness Program was conducted in the Institute of Dental Sciences, Sehora, Jammu on 20th Dec 2018. Dr Romesh Singh, Principal Indira Gandhi Govt Dental College Jammu and member Dental Council Of India was the chief guest of the occasion.
The programme started with the welcome address given by chairman of the institute, Dr R. K. Suri, who stressed upon ragging being a social evil and highlighted the role of an institution in ensuring the safety of the students at all times. He emphasised that the Institute of Dental Sciences was established with the aim to create a model of academic brilliance by grooming the overall personality of its students. It was stressed that suitable measures have been adopted by the institute to monitor the activities of the students and to cater to the needs of those who suffer from any fear of ragging.
Dr Romesh Singh, chief guest of the occasion, further expressed his views on ragging and made the students, faculty and the anti-ragging committees aware of the various anti-ragging policies as per the laws. He advised the students to be respectful to each other and have a healthy environment at all times so that their journey in the institution becomes enriching and a purposeful one. He further motivated the faculty of the institute to ensure that inculcating ethical values along with academic advancements should always remain the prime focus.
Principal IDS, Dr Harvinder Singh also spoke on the occasion ensuring that the institute follows a zero tolerance policy on ragging issues and any case of indiscipline shall be dealt as per the regulations of the law.Dr Bhavneet Kaur, Head of Department of Pediatric& Preventive Dentistry conducted the entire program. The session concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr Sarbjeet Singh,Vice-principal IDS and a token of appreciation was given to the chief guest.
