2 narcotics smugglers held with 06 grams of heroin

Udhampur, Jan 3: Continuing its war on drugs offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today claimed to have recovered 06 grams of contraband substance (chitta) from one narcotic smuggler from Circular road near Main Bazaar, Udhampur.
Rajiv Pandey- Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur said that based on a reliable information, a party of Udhampur police station led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib-SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani-DySP Hqrs. Udhampur raised a surprise naka at Circular Road near Main Bazaar, Udhampur for checking of vehicles.
"During naka checking, police party stopped one car bearing registration number DL 4CR-3989 which was subjected to thorough search and during search of said vehicle, 06 grams of heroin (chitta) was recovered", said SSP Udhampur adding that the identity of narcotic smugglers was established as Shubham Gupta of Ward No. 08, Udhampur and Harjeet Singh of Ward No. 02 Udhampur.
Both of them were arrested on the spot and in this connection, a case under FIR no. 04/2019 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in Udhampur police station and further investigation regarding source of the drugs is on.
It is pertinent to mention here that both the duo was also involved in some NDPS case registered earlier at Police Station Udhampur.
