Unable to float separate party, 'Bad Bishops' try to appease Mehbooba
1/3/2019 11:08:53 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 3: Finding it "hard" to float a separate political party, a group of alleged "Bad Bishops" from PDP who were recently conspiring the plot, have been trying hard to repose faith in the incumbent party president.
Sources said for the past few days a group of PDP leaders who were planning to float a separate party have been lobbying with quarters close to the party President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that she should not "pay heed to rumors about their activities." Sources said a businessman turned politician and his relatives, all of them part of the PDP, have been trying to appease Mehbooba so that they get back to prominence ahead of the day of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's death anniversary falling on January 7. Sources said coterie of the leaders, atleast five in number including two former MLAs have conveyed to Mehbooba Mufti that some "enemies of the PDP had poisoned her ears about them." Sources said the group has been claiming to be innocent before Mehbooba. A source said meeting with the "Bishop's is likely to be held by this week end." Mehbooba is understood to have spoken to one of them on phone and that the conversation lasted for over ten minutes.
Sources said a major reason for this change in the policy of the "coterie" is that they couldn't get "due patronage of some powerful quarters in New Delhi to let them float a separate party." Sources said apprehending that by floating a separate party at this juncture, the political career of them would come to stake the "coterie" has decided to revive relations with the PDP President and look ahead to be with the party for the time being. It was reliably learnt that some businessmen close to the PDP President have also been trying to "clear the air regarding the loyalty of the bad bishops." Sources said the coterie has made an offer of bringing 3000 workers each for function scheduled to be held in connection with the death anniversary of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. Sources said before taking a final decision on the fate of "Bad Bishops" Mehmooba would be holding a meeting with some of the close aides. Despite repeated attempts the "Bad Bishop's" could not be contacted for comments. But a senior leader of PDP confirmed that such developments had come to his notice.
