Mystery shrouds death of young coach, body recovered from army cantonment

UDHAMPUR, Jan 3: Mystery shrouded the death of a young coach identified as Rakesh Kumar, missing since December 18 last from near his house at Jib, after his body was recovered today from a pond in army cantonment area where he was a regular visitor to impart coaching tips of Golf to army men and their children.
When the body of the youth was handed over to his kin after the post mortem, the bereaved family kept it on the National Highway near Chopra Shop area and blocked the road for three hours. They were protesting to investigate the death and demanding to put the culprit behind the bars who allegedly killed the youth.
After getting the information of the protest, the Deputy Director Employment Udhampur Subash Dogra and Tehsildar Udhampur Ved Prakash reached the spot and assured the agitating crowd that a magistrate inquiry by the order of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur will be conducted following which the protesters dispersed and the flow of traffic was restored.
Brother of the deceased told reporters that the deceased was missing from 18th of last month and next day they lodged a missing complaint at Rehmbal Police Station.
He said that the deceased, who used to coach Golf as a caddy to army men and their children, and recovery of his body after 15 days from a pond inside high security zone of army cantonment area raised many questions.
When contacted, SSP Udhampur said that the police was on its job to investigate the case.
