ACB books then ACD Rajouri on corruption charges

JAMMU, Jan 3: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a formal case against the then Assistant Commissioner Developm-ent (ACD) Rajouri for indulging in corruption.
The then ACD Rajouri, Noor Alam, son of Mohd Din of Ward No 8, Mandi, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu at present near Macca Masjid Bhatindi, Jammu has been booked vide FIR no. 01/2019 U/S 5(1) (d) r/w 5 (2) of J&K P C Act Samvat 2006, 4(a) of J&K Amendment Act, 2014. The instant case was registered on the basis of a verification into the allegations that the suspect officer, in sheer abuse of his official position, with ulterior motives as well as for pecuniary gains made illegal engagement of large number of supporting staff (beneficiaries) under MGNREGA as GRS/Technical Assistant/ Bare Foot Engin-eers/ computer Assistant/ Data Entry Operator/ MIS Operator etc on consolidated basis during the period 2015-18 in District Rajouri without involving selection committee in the engagement process as well as without seeking administrative approval, in utter violation of guidelines issued by the Secretary Rural Develop-ment Depa-rtment, J&K vide circular No. 15-RD-NREGA of 2010, dated: 14-12-2010 for making the engagement of supporting staff under MGNREGA, thereby providing illegal as well as undue benefits to the beneficiaries. On the prima facie establishment of the allegations, a formal case has been registered against Noor Alam, then ACD Rajouri (now Deputy Secretary, ARI &Trainings) in Police Station VOJ (now ACB Jammu) and investigations taken up.
