Nagar Kirtan taken out to celebrate Gurpurab celebration

Jammu, Jan 3: A majestic religious rally was taken out today here by the members of Sikh community and others to mark the Gurpurab celebrations.
Nagar Kirtan was organized jointly by the State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu and many other Sikh organizations to celebrate the forthcoming Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the 10th Guru of Sikhism who laid down his own life and sacrificed his father, mother and sons for the sake of humanity and protection of right cause of community.
Priest of the Gurduwara enlightened on The Guru Granth Sahib, a Sikh religious text, which promotes a moral teaching that Sahib explains is about living a life of Truth, believe in one God (creator of universe), respect for others, and high moral standards.
The Nagar Kirtan commenced from Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar (Lower Gumat), Jammu, and after marching through Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Gumat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Asia Crossing, Green Belt Park Gandhi Nagar, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Road, Gole Market, Shiva Chowk, Khalsa Chowk and finally culminated at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu.
To greet the Nagar Kirtan the shopkeepers and Associations en- route had erected welcome gates. Besides, the stalls serving food items fruits, water and juice to participants were also installed at various places by the people to serve the devotees who had taken part in Nagar Kirtan.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth passage of Nagar Kirtan and the traffic was also diverted from the old existing routes to the others. Due to mismanagement on some city routes, massive traffic jams were created and the Traffic Police failed to regulate the traffic.
